PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING:  ALL JOB OFFERS ARE CONDITIONAL UPON THE APPLICANT’S SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST.

 

1.      APPLICATIONS MUST BE RETURNED TO:  THE HILLIARD MUNICIPAL BUILDING, 3800 MUNICIPAL WAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M.

 

2.      EMPLOYMENT TYPE:        SEASONAL

 

3.      DEPARTMENT:         RECREATION AND PARKS

 

4.      SALARY RANGE:     $7.30 TO $13.39 PER HOUR

 

5.      WORK SCHEDULE: AS NEEDED FROM MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND THROUGH LABOR DAY WEEKEND, 2009.  PRE-SEASON TRAININGS MAY BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO OFFICIAL POOL OPENING DATE.

 

6.      HOURS OF WORK:  POOL HOURS VARY FROM WEEK TO WEEK BUT WE ARE SEEKING QUALIFIED PERSONS TO WORK FLEXIBLE HOURS.  MORNING, DAYTIME, EVENING AND WEEKEND HOURS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION.

CITY OF HILLIARD JOB CLASSIFICAITON

 

LIFEGUARD

 

DEFINITION: 

Under immediate supervision of the Recreation Supervisor (Aquatics Manager) is responsible for any and all duties relating to the safe and effective running of the Hilliard swimming pools.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

 

(May include some of all of the examples listed; nor do the examples include all of the duties that may be performed.)

 

Lifeguards must be capable lifesavers, familiar and comfortable with lifesaving, resuscitation and general first aid techniques, and also must be in good physical condition.

 

Enforces the rules and regulations of the facility.

 

Responsible for the actions taken by them and also for their failure to act promptly and properly.  Lifeguards are to provide a safe facility for the patrons of the pool.

 

Participates in swim lessons, swim team, in-service and special programs as required.

 

Assists in the office and at the concession stand as directed.

 

Assists with pool maintenance to include opening and closing procedures, cleaning duties and supervision during hourly rest periods/adult swim time.

 

Maintains order and discipline of participants.

 

Implements pools Emergency Action Plan.

 

Performs related duties as directed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 15 years of age.

Strong swimming skills.

Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Swim America Coaches training.  Level II ASCA training, WSI, LGI, CPO or AFO training accepted but not required.

May require a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle driver’s license.

 

 

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively and positively with community residents and co-workers.

Ability to work effectively under the supervision of the aquatics management staff.

Able to exhibit professional behavior and to be a positive role model to patrons of the pool.

Able to handle money with honesty and integrity.

Thorough knowledge of life guarding techniques, first aid, and CPR principles and techniques.

Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.

Ability to maintain surveillance over persons using the facility and detect actions that might endanger participant’s safety and react and perform within the scope of their training.
