The Engineering Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and inspection of Hilliard's public infrastructure improvements and for assurance that work conducted by private developers and private utilities within the public right-of-way meets City specifications. The engineering staff manages much of the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), including transportation, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water distribution projects. The engineering staff members provide technical support to other City departments, City Council, Boards and Commissions, developers, and citizens with respect to utility locations, stormwater management, water distribution, transportation planning, traffic, access, pedestrian and bicycle mobility, neighborhood traffic issues, and other engineering related items. In addition, engineering staff is actively involved in the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS), mapping, document management, street addressing, and the annual street maintenance program.
